CURRENT

Summer 724

The Copper Hook has spent the last 3 years being defeated at every turn.  At Hyen, Henwe, Vendik Hill and lastly Weseda there was no victory.  The order is shattered and the Fuming Gate is now little more than a smoldering ember.  All that remains is the spiritual direction of  Kemelras Erdin Lumede and the last 3 order knights of the Copper hook, Aravaal Thansen, Koris Argast and Avan Helsun.  They and the last followers of the order now find themselves without a home, without a sponsor and without means.  However the fire in them is as hot as thier masters lash and they WILL DO HIS BIDDING.  Any who attempt to stand against them will know the fury of the V'hir.

RECENT EVENTS

A New Spark, Agrazahar 724

It is only fitting that Bishop Lumede and his company have drifted on the wind in their gods namesake month.  After leaving the western part of Rethem the Bishop Erdin Lumede  and his followers travelled east.  Perhaps to the land of the Thardan beuracrats, where the followers of Agrik are not prescribed.  There hopes of re establishing a new order could be born.

While travelling east the group came to Themeson, where a siege had lasted nearly 2 years.  Only days before thier arrival the Thardic forces had withdrawn.  The land was left barren and burned, only too prophetic to pass up.  Perhaps Coronan would have to wait.  It was the first night when the locals began to flock to the group.  Like moths to a flame they came as if compelled by some irresistable force to hide under the strength that had not been seen in the land for some time.  As it turned out the land was ripe for the picking and its tinder was dry.  A skirmish with local brigands at Culson was a quick first victory, with no casualties.  Soon after the Bishop and his men began to scout the area.  Within days they had surveyed most of the Manors from Themeson to the old Thardic border.  Another encounter at Sheda Manor was against what was believed to be a small local manor force but turned up to be a final hold out of 2 Thardic companies.  With nearly 40 men in wait the Orders forces were surprised at the size of the defending force.  With only 20 men to assault, this would have seemed suicidal.  But the with the whips of Agrik at the mens backs they burst over the walls and through the gate and with only a single man slain they managed to take 22 prisoners and killing the rest.  Only 2 Tharc knights managed to escape.

After just over a ten day in the area they found a well defensible and well maintained outpost at Raccaten.  Here the local lords son had taken up playing noble but he was quickly dismissed and assigned a servants duty to a lowly serf soldier (turned knight).  Now a spark had landed in a pile of dry straw, only the winds would now determine how vicious the flames would become.  Only 2 days later word came from thier recently acquired ally at the Manor to the south.  It turned out that the Thardans were not yet done.  With several barges they came ashore just south of Sheda.  With quick thinking by the High Priest Urdal the group managed to destroy the boats leaving the 60 men of Tharda trapped miles behind border.

Letter from Bishop Lumede

Agrik continued to express his displeasure at the weak state the Church has devolved to.  Losing battle after battle to a small group of Laranians.  These men have shown themselves to be our betters.  Even though vastly outnumbered, they have taken us at every turn.

That is not because Agrik has turned away from us.  It is because we have wandered from Him.  From his mission.

And now we have paid.

We are beyond devastated.  We are ruined.  We have been destroyed.

So others would say.

I see otherwise.  Agrik has melted down the metal of his weak, pitted weapon. he has removed the waste...the useless parts.  Now we are the pure metal that will make his new weapon.  We have been chosen through holy fire to bring true Agrikanism back to these lands. The days of the mewling primate are over.  Agrik will now return.

That said, where have we found ourselves?  After recovering from being purified, Agrik sent one of his V'hir to deliver this message.  Since then we have sought our new path, and that path has led us to Tharda.  While Agrikans there are sleeping, they are not so tainted by the weaknesses of those in Rethem.  We can use them to build our order.  We will return and show Rethem what True Agrikans are.

I was blessed enough to deliver Agrik's Message directly to the Primate.  No fancy words.  No negotiation.  Only a single blow on the streets of Golotha in front of all of the groups that call themselves fighting orders was needed to deliver that message.

You have asked me why I let him live.  I tell you thusly:  his life is a testimonial to his failure to Agrik.  He failed in the most spectacular fashion possible in front of his strongest supporters.  To kill him in combat would be a sin.  He did not deserve that reward.   He deserves what he now has:  a complete loss of respect and stature within the so called 'Church' of Agrik.

The day is not far away when the True Church of Agrik will return.  Then there will be a harvest of the weak souls left in Rethem.

You men are blessed to be part of this holy mission.
